About Lixir

Lixir is a live AI interview simulator for software engineers. You have a real-time voice conversation with an AI interviewer while coding in an actual editor. The AI sees your code as you write it, asks follow-up questions, gives hints when you're stuck, and provides detailed feedback afterward. It's the closest thing to a real interview you can practice alone.

Most AI tools are chatbots: you paste code, ask a question, get an answer. Lixir is fundamentally different. The AI is live in your editor, watching your code as you type, reacting to your approach in real-time. It's the difference between telling someone about your code and having them watch you write it. That's what real interviews are, and that's what this practices.

LeetCode teaches you to solve problems. Lixir teaches you to explain them. In real interviews, getting the right answer is maybe half the battle. The other half is communicating your thinking clearly while someone watches you work and asks hard questions. That's a different skill, and it requires different practice.

How It Works

When you upload your resume and (optionally) a job description, the AI reads them. Not keyword matching, actually reads them. It understands your work history, your tech stack, your seniority level, and the role you're targeting. Then every question is tailored to that context. You'll hear "Tell me about that payment service you built" not "Tell me about a challenging project."

Currently: coding interviews with a live editor. Coming soon: system design interviews with a whiteboard. Both feature real-time voice conversation with an AI interviewer who adapts to your background and skill level.

You get a detailed feedback report: overall assessment, competency-by-competency breakdown, specific strengths, specific areas to improve, and examples from your actual conversation. Reports are saved to your account forever. Over multiple sessions, you can track your improvement.

Effectiveness

Interviews test a specific skill: explaining your technical thinking out loud while someone watches and challenges you. That skill only improves with practice. Lixir lets you practice that exact skill (the real-time pressure, the follow-up questions, the need to articulate clearly) as many times as you want. The feedback helps you identify and fix your weak spots before they cost you an offer.

For building the core skill (thinking out loud under pressure), yes. Human practice partners are valuable, but they're hard to schedule, inconsistent in quality, and limited in availability. Lixir gives you unlimited reps with structured feedback every time. Many users practice with Lixir to build the skill, then do a few human mock interviews to refine it.
